The
first design, for a builder, explored the maximum potential of this
wooded site in the West Wight.
The building is an L-shape to provide a suntrap courtyard to the rear,
the high raking wing topped with a studio lookout to catch glimpses
of Newtown Creek through the trees.

The second design, for a private client, was constrained by the Local
Authorities insistence that a replacement dwelling should be no more
than 35% bigger than the existing chalet on the site. A simple barn
like structure is orientated so that the Living Room and external terrace
at First Floor look towards the Creek.
The entrance is marked by a stair tower which, like the dormer windows,
is clad in copper which will weather green to blend in with the tree
canopy. On site 2006.
